Project: Promoting Community Health, Wellness & Social Cohesion via Media and Grassroot Efforts

The 2015 Radio Naija Community Project aimed to engage and empower the Nigerian and broader African communities in Amsterdam Southeast through a grassroots media platform. Utilizing Radio Naija via Salto public access radio, the project fostered dialogue, information sharing, and cultural expression. Over the course of the initiative, it delivered community-focused radio programs, organized training workshops for volunteers in broadcasting and journalism, and facilitated stronger networks among African residents, local organizations, and service providers. Key achievements include: The successful production of 12 live community radio broadcasts The training of 15 community members in media production The creation of a supportive platform for voicing local concerns The project highlighted the role of community radio in promoting social inclusion, cultural identity, and civic participation. Despite facing technical and logistical challenges, the project met its primary objectives and laid the groundwork for continued community media engagement.
